San Marzano Talò Malvasia Nera Salento IGT 2015

San Marzano Talò Malvasia Nera Salento IGT 2015

Another delightful find from San Marzano, this 100% Malvasia Nera is softly textured and juicy. As with all wines in the Talò line, it over delivers for its roughly $15.00 price point. Juicy Italian plums, blackberries and black cherries are rendered more complex by an earthy-savory edge of dried herbs, coffee, and underbrush. In the mouth, it's round, fleshy, and voluptuous, and all too easy to drink. A soulful pairing with pizza, roast duck or pigeon. 13.5% ABV | Sample San Marzano 9.0 Points...

Cantine San Marzano Talò Negroamaro Salento IGP 2015

San Marzano Talò Negroamaro Salento IGP 2015

If I were to describe San Marzano's 2015 Talò Negroamaro Salento IGP in a single word, it would be juicy. A plush and plump mouthful of damson plums, black cherries, balsamic, sweet tobacco, and vanilla paste set against a backdrop of velvety tannins and moderate acidity. This is a generous, easy-drinking wine, and it's all too easy to reach the bottom of the glass. 13.5% ABV | Sample San Marzano 8.9 Points...

Tenute Rubino Saturnino Negroamaro Rosato Salento IGT 2014

Tenute Rubino Saturnino Negroamaro Rosato Salento IGT 2014

The exact color of watermelon Jolly Ranchers, the 2014 Tenute Rubino Saturnino Negroamaro Rosato is thankfully, quite dry. Overtones of tart cherries, roses and spice lead an enthusiastic charge to the palate. Lively acidity gives lift to notes of yes, more tart pie cherries and the slightest hint of candy-like watermelon Jolly Ranchers, in the sense that the candy has a sweet, acidic twang, so does this sappy Italian rosato. The nose is indeed remarkably consistent with the palate, yet it didn't win me over. Tenute Rubino 8.6 Points...
