Here’s a confession: I’ve become something of a fan of Elio Altare, and while opening the Arborina Langhe 2009 is admittedly premature, I’ve at least been able to sample its charms. Inviting notes of earth, forest berries, iced coffee, sweet tobacco and mint make way for a wine that is nicely balanced, with firm, mouth-coating tannins. It still possess a lot of freshness and youthful vigor that will continue to soften in time. A lovely, persistent finish that ends with plum and cherry pit.
