Pronounced, layered aromas of blackberries, plums, lavender and lilac, the 2014 Red is Seed Wine’s inaugural release and is composed of 50% Cabernet Sauvignon, 40% Malbec and 10% Cabernet Franc. Aged for 16 months on new French oak, this polished Argentine red exhibits fabulous purity of fruit at the core, cradled in fine, velvety tannins. There is a nice burst of mineral-tinged acidity towards the finish that adds subtle lift and textural elegance. A lovely wine for a first effort. Less than 50 cases produced.
In the spirit of disclosure, I should mention that I handle the social media for this winery, I’ve been working with Seed’s team since February of this year—the winery owner’s have a fantastic story, a tale of risk, adventure and optimism, I’ve so enjoyed working with them.
