Evening Land Seven Springs ‘Anden’ Pinot Noir 2014

Blog

A knee-weakening Pinot Noir, Evening Land’s Seven Springs ‘Anden’ comes from fruit harvested in a single pass through a phylloxerated section of historic Seven Springs vineyard. The 2014 is whole cluster fermented and aged in 100% New oak—it would seem that there’s a method to winemaker Sashi Moorman’s madness in the rather unusual approach to this limited release—and it’s spectacular. Raspberries, cranberries, orange peel and pomander ball are followed by crushed stones and a slightly piney note. It’s pure and vivid, with an unwavering mineral thread that deftly ties it all together. And despite  liberal use of oak, it reads as a delicate albeit complex wine with beautifully integrated tannins. If you can find this one, and you can afford I say, go for it! 13.5% ABV | Sample
