As memory serves, this is one of my acquisitions from Garagiste, as is typical of Garagiste selections, Jean David is a very small producer, a husband and wife team from the village of Séguret who are committed to what Nicki refers to as “hyper- organic “farming. The vines are very old, though I can not find out exactly how old-the-year The Levants boasts aromas of seedy raspberries and purples, with a sprinkling of dried herbs. On the palate, it is medium-bodied, and while not terribly complex, it offers enough acidity to make it a reasonably good food wine. Finishes with ambient underwater and wet wood tones that hunker in the background.
