A blend of Pommard and clones 777 and 115, all rooted in ancient marine sedimentary soils that form the foundation and consequently the backbone of the 2012 Angela Abbott Claim Vineyard. Textbook growing conditions combined with this stellar site have yielded a wine with heady, rapturous aromas of hibiscus, musky black tea, mushrooms, truffles, smokey incense and lush black cherries. It’s a perfect ying-yang between masculine and feminine flavors and structure, with a silken, fleshy mid-palate offset by vivid acidity, and fine, firm tannins. A somewhat big Pinot Noir that has maintained its poise, it’s also still slightly tight—consider tucking this one away in the cellar for another 5-7 years. 12.9% ABV | Sample
