Tasted at Pebble Beach Food & Wine, I was quite pleased to happen upon the third label of Château Margaux, 2009 is the inaugural vintage. Youthful and fresh, it’s a blend of 50% Cabernet Sauvignon and 50% Merlot. The nose is on the quiet side, with delicate aromas of black currant and blueberries, violets and a trace of earth. It’s not at all heavy, despite the fact that the tannins are ripe, they are still fine, with only minimal toast. Great purity of fruit, and an pleasing touch of minerality. Sample
